Isabella's Ghost

Isabella lived in a fishing village located on a rocky shoreline. The wood buildings were weather beaten from the salty sea air. Isabella was fine lady. She lived in a stone house with huge oak trees that were on each side of the entry way in the drive. The yard was surrounded by a black wrought iron fence. She was happy and in love with a young sea captain who owned a commercial fishing company. He owned a boat called the S.S. Estralita. He very often went out to sea with his crew of men.
It was one fateful day in the fall of 1897 when the sky grew dark and sea began to churn. A terrible storm came up and all were lost at sea on the S.S. Estralita.
It was a sad time in the village at that time. The people had their share of tragedies at sea in the past.
A sad story, indeed for Isabella was never the same. No one knew what happened to her. She was just gone and no one heard from her.
Though as the story goes, it is beleived that the ghost of Isabella walks the rocky cliffs as she looks out to sea, waiting for her beau to return to her.

Rustic Log Trunks

These are only two examples of some of the rustic log trunks that Dorothy Woropay has hand painted with such lovely woodland flowers. She also painted log trunks with with red winter berries on white frosted branches. The log boxes have a textured paper that resembles tree bark. They are great for storing items or just for people that love nature and the up north-look!

This little cat, Vinnie loves to have his picture taken. He is so sweet. In the background there is a beautiful quilt that my sister, Nancy made for us as a Christmas gift.

Colorful Fibers

My creative process is all about celebrating the character of each softie I make. Every color, fiber or yarn is taken into consideration. I most recently did some treasure hunting at resale shops for articles of clothing for the creative journey into creating a character. I start with a general concept and then begin to think about what could I incorporate into my softie. All the fibers and cloth, and if you really study them you can almost see the little characters that are just waiting to be created. For example, that herringbone blazer really could be a little dog softie that has a flair for the classic style.
This way of thinking keeps color in my thoughts even on dark days. There is always a creative place to go. It is journey and you may create something great!
I can make quite a mess looking for a certain fabric from my stash of fabric, felt and plush fur. I know it is there but, somewhere it got lost on the wayside of previous "fabric huntings'. I am rationalzing...there is no time for neatness when on a mission to get back to my softie waiting in my " laboratory".
I want to make a monster softie! I have been inspired by the brillant work of so many artists that make monster-like creations that are so loveable!
