Homemade Baked Bread

The smell of homemade bread baking can make a winter day just better. The warmth of the oven and then cutting off a slice and spreading on some butter and tasting it...heaven!

A " Real Day "

I have been told that  if the sun does not shine, it it not a "real day".The sun is shining today and that is REAL...so what a blessing for Grand Marais!   We have not had  too sun much in a long time.  It still is very cold so you still need a hat even though it looks deceiving from inside the house.    You may not be able to see  colors of the yarn in this photo, but, the colors are beautiful. The color of the yarn is called  Harlequin.

Using Leftovers

If you have  a lot of leftover sock yarn that you hate to just throw away  you could make some very colorful socks.  These socks are made using leftover  Merino wool. They turned out pretty and are nice and warm.

How about that Snow?

Here are 2 photos I took today. The first photo is of when the snow removal job was finished removing the snow off the roof of the Crystal Pinecone gift shop. The last photo is of  Rich and Alan  in the process of  removing all that snow.  It was at least 3 ft. deep at the deepest point. And besides all that  snow...it is zero
degrees. Rich's beard was completely covered with white frost,  like  some guy from the Arctic!

Little Brown Shrug

Brown and other fall time colors were used to create this child's shrug. A different color buttons were used for closure. This pattern is available from the Ravelry website. It is made using circular needles, starting at the neck  edge and working down to start the raglan sleeve shaping. I knit  button holes and the buttons on my own, though. Worn over a long sleeve brown or orange long sleeved shirt, would look sweet!
